Cropland Water Management

Cropland Water Management

Water availability is arguably the most limiting factor in our dry land crop production systems.  Therefore, efforts are currently underway to evaluate water use efficiency in our dry land systems and to develop management options to better utilize rainfall received by our cropland.  Improved precipitation use efficiency will also alter the offsite impacts of cropland management.  It will influence both the quantity and quality of water delivered to our surface lakes and streams, and our groundwater reservoirs.
