Water Quality

Cropland accounts for approximately 24% of the total land area of Oklahoma. Therefore, cropland management influences the quality of water flowing through the streams and lakes in Oklahoma.  Cropland management can impact the nutrient and sediment concentrations in these surface waters.  Minimizing the potential for water erosion through conservation tillage and no-till management practices is the most effective way to reduce these sources of contamination to our surface waters.
